Göteborg Book Fair 2016 - Scandinavia's largest literary festival

This weekend the Book Fair is back for 32 years in a row, a place for all who love the written word.

Perhaps you've been there many times before, or maybe you are new to the trade show. Either way the Book Fair is an exciting event with interesting discussions, lectures, author spotting, book talks and much more. Freedom of expression is the main theme at the Book Fair 2016 - the year when the Sweden's Freedom of the Press Act is celebrating its 250th anniversary.

GOTHIA CUP 2016

The now 42-year-old tournament is a meeting place for the world's children and young people regardless of religion, skin colour, sexual preferences, culture or nationality. With football as the common denominator, Gothias Cup wants to create meetings; Meetings that provide knowledge and leads to development on and off the pitch. Boys and girls aged 11-18 years will meet in matches and meet in their accommodation facilities in four municipalities.

Gothia Cup is a great event both of the visitors and the local population. Be part of the football fest where most of it is completely free of charge.

Location: 100 playing fields in Gothenburg, Mölndal and Kungsbacka.

WORLD OF HANDBALL - PARTILLE CUP

Partille Cup is the world's largest handball tournament and has been held every year since 1970. In our 45-year history the tournament has become the largest, but also the most important international youth event for handball. In 2015 Partille Cup had 21.500 participants who represented 1.000 teams and 44 countries. In total Gothenburg has welcomed more than 400.000 players and coaches from 90 different countries.

The matches are played at Heden, Valhalla, Kviberg and Skatås.

All matches are free except the finals which are played on July 9 at Heden. Tickets can be purchased at Heden Center, in the information.

GÖTAPLATSEN STREET FOOD SATURDAYS, 4 JUN - 6 AUG
